Untouched World make beautiful, sustainable and ethically sourced natural fibre garments. Their brand philosophy is simple; create easy to wear, easy care pieces that will last for years but are also easy on the earth. Quality and sustainability are non-negotiables for Untouched World, it is an essential part of their company ethos.
This ethos was forefront in the store design brief to Designability for their new Wanaka concept store and all like all aspects of their business every product selection was made with sustainability and quality in mind.
In addition to the careful selection of sustainably produced products their logo and brand collateral placement was key to the design of the retail interior space. The Untouched World logo is used throughout the shop design including on the front counter and many of the bespoke joinery units where it is applied with a hand painting technique. Brand imagery is strategically placed throughout the space on custom made signage display boards.
The selected material palette is also in keeping with the “less is more” approach of Untouched World. Use of natural oak, cement-based render, powder coated black steel and a neutral colour scheme are on brand and in line with the clothing aesthetic. Innovative product display using ropes and a mix of feature and track lighting finish off the overall look.
The layout was carefully considered and clear zones are differentiated for womenswear, menswear and accessories. The entire shopfront was redesigned and opened up to allow increased natural light into the space.
Key to the success of the design process and the outcome was the collaboration between our designers and the Untouched World brand team. Every decision and finish was workshopped with them.
